We treat a lot of children at Masters Family Dentistry!  Along with the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, we recommend that children have their first visit around 12-18 months of age.

Can I come back to the dental chair with my child?

We believe that parents should be able to come back to the dental chair with their child.  However, some children do better on their own.  It is up to you as the parent whether or not you come back with your child.

What services do you provide for children?

Our office provides

  • dental cleanings
  • protective sealants (helps prevent cavities on new adult teeth)
  • fluoride (helps protect teeth and remineralizes the outer coating from acids in the mouth)
  • non-metal fillings (resin)
  • metal fillings (silver)
  • preventive education.

What amenities do you offer for kids to make the visit better?

We offer monitors in every room with cable television for cartoons.  In our experience, children also do better with shorter appointments.  We don't try to get everything done in one visit because most children get exhausted after one or two fillings.

What if my child needs extensive dental work?

We provide treatment for most children in our office.  However, if your child needs extensive work or requires sedation we refer to a nearby pediatric dental specialist to treat these conditions.  Most children will return to our office for routine cleanings and exams after the extensive work is completed.
